THE ANIMALS (2010-2012)
The Animals are part of the Spellbook series. They are images of my son's toys that I started to make as I was thinking about how children learn to process images and words in relation to objects that can be touched and through the sensations of color and sound.
26 of these images along with poetic text are published in the book The Animals that exists as a limited edition handmade book as well as two Blurb Book editions, a 12” x12’ hard cover Collector’s edition https://www.blurb.com/b/10810097-the-animals and a soft cover 7” x 7” edition https://www.blurb.com/b/1969049-the-animals(http://www.blurb.com/b/1969049-the-animals). The first letter of each animal’s name is an integral part of the image challenging children to discover it. The book appeals to children ages 4 to 8 as well as to adults. The images were also mounted to wooden blocks for exhibition.
